Procedure:

Each imaging procedure involves different techniques and equipment, but the general process is similar. Patients may be required to change into a gown and remove metal objects or jewelry that could interfere with imaging. During the procedure, the patient lies on a table or sits in a specialized chair, and the imaging equipment is positioned accordingly. The radiologic technologist operates the equipment from an adjacent room while monitoring the process. After the imaging is complete, the images are reviewed by a radiologist, who interprets the findings and prepares a report for the referring physician.

How long does an imaging procedure take?

The duration of an imaging procedure varies depending on the type of imaging and the area being examined. X-rays and ultrasound typically take 15-30 minutes, while an MRI scan may take 30-60 minutes or longer, depending on the complexity of the study.

 

Do I need a referral for imaging services?

In most cases, a referral from a healthcare provider is required for imaging services. Your provider will determine the appropriate imaging modality based on your medical history, symptoms, and diagnostic needs.

 

Will I receive the results immediately?

Results from imaging studies are typically reviewed by a radiologist, who prepares a report for the referring physician. The turnaround time for results varies but is usually within a few days. Your healthcare provider will discuss the findings with you during a follow-up appointment.
